Q. What can I say to people who think voting NDP will split the vote and elect a Conservative?
This is sometimes called “strategic voting” and it backfires all the time. When people try to game the system and predict who’s best positioned to defeat the Conservatives, they are often using wrong information.
Make sure you have the right information.
Unlike the United States, Canada has a multi-party system. The NDP came first or second in 103 ridings in the last election.
In many places, the NDP is the strategic vote to keep out the Conservatives
.
Q. Is it worth voting for a party even if I think they won’t form government?
Unlike the United States, Canada has a multi-party system. In the last parliament, NDP members were able to push for big policy gains, including the biggest upgrade to our health care system since public health care was introduced.
The biggest progressive changes Canada has seen were made when New Democrats fought for them in Ottawa.
Q. Where does Pierre Poilievre stand?
Trump’s tariffs and the existing affordability crisis in Canada are a perfect storm that will hit vulnerable Canadians hardest.
Pierre Poilievre is promising cuts that will make things worse.
He wants American-style health care and voted to cut public pensions and other services families rely on.
Q. What is Mark Carney’s position?
We’re still learning who Mark Carney is, but we know he has deep ties to some of the world’s largest corporations. We need to ensure that workers, not companies, are at the centre of his vision for Canada.
Q. How can voting NDP help make things better?
In the last parliament, NDP members were able to push for big policy gains, including the biggest upgrade to our health care system since public health care was introduced. The biggest progressive changes Canada has seen were made when New Democrats fought for them in Ottawa.
The NDP fought for, and won programs like Pharmacare, dental care and affordable child care.
These programs will strengthen Canadian families for years to come.
